Lea Valley Strava Segment Championships 2013 - part two

Continuing from the previous post, here are the remaining strava segments.

A bit further south than the climbs to High Beach, Daws Hill is a short but vicious climb eastwards from Sewardstone:

Daws Hill

1 Jamie 02:00 2 Harry 02:13 3 Jason 02:48

Further afield is Banks Lane. This is the climb if you’re heading from Ivy Chimneys towards Toot Hill. There’s a long straight drag that gets steeper towards the top, then as you go past Gayne’s Park you turn to the right and drop down a short steep downhill, before going straight back up a really steep section, then down again, and finally up again and round the bend to Tawney Common.

Banks Lane

1 Harry 02:54 2 Jamie 02:59 3 Alex 03:07

To the north of Epping Forest and east of Waltham Abbey there’s a climb called Horseshoe Hill which takes you to Upshire. If it’s not enough for you, then you can plunge down the other side of this, head under the motorway, and then up another short steep climb called Crown Hill for a double-climb segment.

Horseshoe Hill

1 Jamie 01:41 2 Jason 01:44 3 Harry 01:48

Horseshoe & Crown Hill

1 Jamie 04:54 2 Harry 05:09 3 Matt 05:26

Next up is the drag up from Theydon Bois heading west into the forest:

Coppice Row

1 Alex 03:17 2 Harry 03:37 3 Jason 03:40

This one is usually enountered towards the end of a ride, heading east up into Chingford:

Kings Head Hill

1 Jamie 02:00 2 Chris B 02:43 3 Jason 02:44

And last, but not least, is the short burst up Friday Hill in Chingford which has been the opening lung-burster on our Tuesday evening rides. The top two here is actually the all-time top two on the whole of Strava:

Friday Hill

1 Jason 01:01 2 Jamie 01:02 3 Harry 01:23

So that’s it for 2013. I suggest we could have an ongoing competition during 2014 for each of these segments.
